So, I had a funny thought today. You know how Fate/Stay Night Servants have ranks in various skills? ie: Saber has a B in the Riding stat, so, according to her own words in Fate/Zero, she could “even pilot an airplane without trouble once she mounted the saddle and took the reins”.

So. Servants don’t exactly have to actually know anything about the thing they’re doing, provided it falls under their skills. Saber does not understand how an airplane works at all, but if the need arose, she could just. Do that.

Now, my question is… how far are we willing to stretch this concept? If the Riding skill, meant for things like horseback riding, can apply to planes… could her Swordsmanship translate into, say, video games?

What I want to know is, if she was given a controller, how good would she be at something like Dark Souls?

#every single idea i have about this series is crack in some way #Would Saber actively seek out video games: probably not #would ilya cajole her into playing them with her anyways: yes #this eventually steamrolls into Saber somehow winding up as a twitch streamer after the war #shes equal parts untouchable in games like dark souls and completely out of her depth in anything else #she’ll no-sell bosses like the abyss watchers but get D-ranks across the board in rhythm games

Ohhh. I’m vaguely reminded of a doujin where Saber gets steamrolled by Rider in videogames (I think it was called “Saber has a game-system”), though I think that was more “turn-based strategy” which… hmm… does Saber technically have a Skill-rank in that?

Regardless, the idea of “The Once and Future King” effectively being an e-girl (because she’s very pretty and would have no understanding of “hide your face from the internet”-privacy) who’s extremely good at only some videogames is hilarious.

(Rin will sometimes be featured on the channel, mostly as a “Rin, did you touch my settings?” “I didn’t touch anything! It attacked me!”. And then Illya being forced to work IT, because Saber has no idea what she’s doing with technology and Shirou is only good with hardware-problems.)

(Cue the chat begging for Illya whenever it starts to lag, or blaming Rin for it.)

I’m sure many folks are already aware of this, but somehow, this was something I only recently discovered - so I’m sharing it here, just in case.  In Twilight Princess, Midna’s voice lines were actually recorded in English, then scrambled after the fact to be unintelligible - but in 2010, a YouTuber by the name of Inumarou went to the trouble of piecing together what a few of them (mostly) sounded like in their original English, which you can hear above.  (Link to the original video here.)  Basically, this is what Midna’s voice actually sounds like.

There are nine lines in total - three spoken when Link attempts to warp, three that are story-related, and three that “are just there for fun”:

Which one will it be? Have you made up your mind? I’ll take you there with my power!  What do you think happened to those who tried to rule with sacred magic?  I have a request… Would you find the mirror?  Don’t go running off!  I’ll be watching… I guess you AREN’T stupid!

There are an abundance of other voice clips in the game, but as of my typing this, these are the only ones that have been unscrambled.  I’d love to hear more one day - in particular what little she says while in her true form.
